With over 35 years of experience providing healthcare and accommodation services to women and children of Queensland’s Cape York, NPA and Torres Strait regions, Mookai Rose is here to help you with your health needs while in Cairns.
Families from remote communities are transferred to Cairns for extended periods of time. This is because they have limited access to health care and birthing on country models. During these times, our vulnerable people including women, children, and elders are away from their families and support systems when they need them the most.
For over 35 years, Mookai Rosie, its founders and staff have stepped in, providing a home away from home for our mob while in Cairns.
Our strong Aboriginal founders still inspire the Mookai Rosie team, who continue to service our remote communities. By providing safe and supported accommodation for First Nations women and children, we continue the legacy of our Aunties. Expanding our services into family-centred health ensures ongoing health improvements and protects the future of our people.
Good nutrition, women’s, men’s and child health checks, pre and post-natal care, birth support, vaccinations, environmental health and social and emotional wellbeing support, are just a few of the services provided by our expert staff.
